Aight, time to scream into the void a little bit and fill you guys in with what the idiot red clown is up to.
I just got done fiddling with the Save/Load from file stuff for the Desktop AIR build, so the next releases should have that fixed. I’ll try and get a few more of the bugs and oversights sorted before then, but it’s time to spill the beans!
Unlike the rest of the team, I don’t get ill, so don’t worry there.
Instead, everything around me falls to pieces. Check after the break if you care about idiot RL stuff that has kept me busy for the last half year!
For the last six months I’ve been dealing with a shockingly worthless landlord, trying to get a simple pipe leak fixed, and have somebody look at a separate roof leak. And endless cycle of being on the phone for hours, writing fucking huge emails detailing the entire thing, a revolving door of different contractors coming to price things up and then fuck off never to be seen again. It took so long I had fucking mushrooms growing on the wall at the side of my office. It was fucking disgusting, and I had to yank every chain I could find to get some movement on fixing it. It finally got sorted in December, and now I’ve gotta deal with these fucked up nasty walls for a few more weeks whilst everything dries out so the contractors can come back and fix them.
I had a good two weeks of not having much to worry about after that, focusing on work.
And then my car fucked up. More to the point, I dropped £1200 getting it fixed, got it to move less than two whole miles (1.7 miles, to be exact), before it ran into another, supposedly unrelated problem, that the actual Ford dealership garage I bought the fucking thing from wants another £1200 to fix. Not some cowboy garage, an actual Ford franchisee garage. There’s more to the story, but I don’t particular want to spew words on a blog about the specifics unless anybody who has actual experience dealing with dodgy mechanics in the UK happens to chime up, but needless to say, most of the last two weeks has now been spent trying to handle this fucking clusterfuck and figure out the right way to hammer them into the fucking ground, because the first £1200 was borderline on if I should spend it or just fuck it off and buy a new car as it is, the second round is just a fucking complete joke.
Buy a dirt cheap car and run it till it dies. then rather than fixing it sell it to the scrap man and buy another. Thats what some people do, but if you want a car that will still run, look for reliability. Pickup trucks dont tend to die as much because theres less fancy stuff on them, theyre workhorses built for hauling stuff around farms.
That’s my plan going forward. I barely need to drive anywhere any more, but when I bought this fucking piece of shit I was clocking a couple hundo miles a week easy. The first fortnight I had it I put 2K on it. It handled the long shit well, but it turns out it fucking sucks for short trips.
Ford is trash homey. Go Chevy if you’re going American.
In my life I’ve owned both Ford and Chevy vehicles…both were of older models but were great. Newer vehicles, I tend to stay away from, more things to break down. Also a bane of older vehicles is that most replacement parts have only a limited run with manufacturers so some parts, like a replacement fuel rail might be a pain to get unless you go aftermarket. For foreign replacement parts can be worse.
Without knowing specifics I am unsure of UK dealers/mechanics if this is similar, however, usually dealers will sale vehicles with a warranty on certain things, drive train, transmission, engine, etc., even used vehicles (usually very limited though). If you have your sales information check if there were any warranty’s, even if implied. If so the repair shop should honor them.
I don’t know about buying an older vehicle and running it into the ground, seems like such a waste. Even light maintenance on an older vehicle can keep it going for a good long time.
Hope things start looking up from here.
Does the UK really have pickups?
When I was touring the UK in 2011 I believe I only saw two the entire trip, and both were in Scotland.
Now things could have changed in the 7 years since I’ve been there, but their roads in towns aren’t exactly wide.
There arent many, and they arent cheap either.
Id offer to help if i could gedan (hell maybe you live down south and i can lol), fix all my stuff myself. its far far cheaper.
Ffs, sorry you’ve been going through such shit for a while. All that sounds freaking horrible. Hopefully in the future you wont have to go through some stupid shit like that, but then again the world likes to fuck some people so idk.
I went through car troubles some 6-7 years back I think, horrible, egregious experience, went about as bad as could be expected. The lesson I learned from it was this: the moment you are on the fence over fixing your car or buying another, always, always, always go for the other car option, because some mechanics and places are shady as Satan during free soul week.
This is gonna be the last round of fixes it gets. The whole plan was to run the thing into the ground until there was nothing left in it, then bail and buy something else.
Dealerships in general are the last place you want to go to get something fixed. It’s a universal fuck fest with pretty much every company. They will absolutely gouge you on labor and parts. It usually costs about a third of what they charge to actually fix it. Your best bet is to find a locally owned mechanic that friends or family can vouch for.
I would but the problems were related to some hyper specific shit with my model/year of car. I tried a garage with a guy I trust and he just absolutely did not have the kit to do what needed to be done.
I am functionally fine with paying premium cash, if the job being done is premium, but everything about this has been proof positive that whoever has been in charge recently couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery.
The £1200 deal on the 2nd time around is because of a potential kink that might crop up. I know what it is, and I’ve heard of it before, many times with my specific year/model. It’s not an uncommon problem. But it would still fundamentally fall on the mechanic fucking up removing something, and then them wanting to pass the bill on to me to pay for their fuck up. (At that point basically having to strip the head and rebuild most of the engine to unfuck it).
In the end I think I’ve managed to batter them with the proof of their incompetence, and they’ve actually paid to truck the car to a specialist 80+ miles away to do the work and pay the price they charge. Supposedly it is fixed, and supposedly it’s been on a 15+ mile test drive.
Guess I’ll find out tomorrow.
Good luck with that, hopefully they’ve sorted their shit out, and got yours fixed right this time. Dealerships tend to be pains when it comes to fixing anything right/cheaply, unless it’s part of a manufacturer recall that they have to do.
I basically busted them in a trap of their own design.
Basically proved their diagnostics were worthless, and if they aren’t adequately diagnosing the actual problem, then what the fuck are they doing charging for fixes.
“I’ll just write this Formal Complaint to the motoring ombudsman for your accredited garage here and let us see how much shit they find to pull you up on, shall we?”
If we could get some followups, that’d be grand – I need to sate my justice boner and my desire to hear the outcome is strong with this one.
Good luck, hopefully it’s fixed!
Mechanics do stuff intentionally so that you have to came back. Even the executives push it, not just the dealers themselves. Thats why the mechanics try to push other fixes and stuff off on you because they have to get a minimum amount on the bill or get canned according to my uncle who use to be a mechanic for Ford. All it is is a money game. Thats probably why my mom’s Impala had a issue with the valve body in the transmission and GM wouldn’t push a recall even though they knew of the problem.
Hell, I have a Mazda, with an aftermarket K&M air filter on my engine. Last time I had it in the shop, I had some jackass come in with a Ford OEM filter that was dripping with new engine oil, walk up to me and say that my air filter was dirty and needed to be replaced. He ‘replaced it for me’ already. He could take it off, but it was ‘only $40’ and he didn’t see why I wanted my engine to run with clean air. I told him to stuff it, called him out on the shit filter, and he walked away – right up to another person in the waiting room and tried the same shit again, less than 30 seconds after I called him out on it. Some people become stupid, and some people are born it. I think that bastard was the second one.
Reminds me of someone who took a wrench to the bolts on my dad’s Mack that hold the axle shaft to the hub so that it would start leaking rear end grease. Honestly I try to do my own mechanical work myself or get my dad and/or uncle to help. I prefer mt dad to help because my uncle likes to rig shit instead of just taking the extra little bit of time to do it right. I honestly find that to be sad because my uncle works of school buses now.
*Gives Ged a supportive cookie, a hug and a pat on the back*
Seconded.
Adulting is hard 🙁
That’s why I never adult.
What’s an adult ??
Knew it had been a while since last we heard from you, but damn Geddy sorry to hear you had to go through such shit, and still with more to go.
Sadly i can’t offer much help beyond wishing you the best of luck.
Seriouly I can’t Impregnate SERA, and the wiki said:
” Steele is Sera’s Master
Under these circumstances Steele can still become pregnant with Sera’s baby so long as they do not have her cock removed as part of the contract, but they also have the opportunity to knock her up regardless as long as they have a cock.
Steele can find out that the slavery collar Sera is fitted with comes with a function that automatically pumps contraception into Sera’s bloodstream but which can be disabled and re-enabled on command. Sera still needs to be convinced of this, however. If she is a merchant, Steele must insist that a baby will teach her Responsibility; if she is just their sex-slave, they must express their Desire to have a baby with her. Afterwards Steele will deactivate the contraception and it becomes possible to get pregnant by riding her cock or to get pregnant by fucking her pussy. ”
But even though she has high sub. point’s (80), she does not appear the option to click only this: appearance , cuntTease, Ride(transparent), buttfuck, punish, impregnate(transparent), boot, leave.
Don’t know anymore…
Sleep with no one, and tell Celise you don’t wanna sleep with her at all until told otherwise, then Sera will come to you and can cuddle, which sometimes leads to intercourse where you cum in her, otherwise get a second dick to DP her
thank you!
You will need to not be sleeping with anybody as of now. She will meet you at bed when you go to sleep on the ship. You will need to cuddle which is the first option. It may take a few time to get here to f. you while you are waking up. It also took a few tries to get pregnant for me. Are you sleeping with here on the ship? It is not something to select. Just don’t sleep with anyone and it will be automatic.
1000 days aready and only appears Azra and its not all day that she appears only around 5 days…
I need a way of contacting you for when i break things on the site (or figure out bugs/glitches/oversights) so i don’t advertise to everyone how to take advantage XD. (no not the game, but the actual website….so many shiny buttons *alarms go off*)
Fen put his email out on the site, you can always email the info to him and he can pass it on
Gedan! You’re alive?! Praise the sun!!!
Mad obviosuly, and for good reason, but alive. I’ll take glass half full.
I’d recommend buying a Honda Civic. It’s an older model, but you’ll rarely have to maintenance on it.
Sorry to hear about all the trouble you are having, here are my two coppers:
The Flat
Hopefully when that was sorted, it was the landlord who footed the bill, if not check the advice on the following link as it gives methods of recourse if you are not aware of them: https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/repairs/what_to_do_if_your_landlord_wont_do_repairs
The Car
Seems that you already have ways of dealing with this, but here is a links with some sage advice just in case, it might help save you on the legal side of things if the garage does not co-operate, the first is more of an overview and the second is a lot more comprehensive (advice mainly geared to England, but if you are elsewhere in the UK there should be similar methods of recourse available):
https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/how-do-i-complain-about-poor-garage-service
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/buying-or-repairing-a-car/problems-with-a-car-repair/
Do not know if that is any help, but wanted to pitch in and hopefully be of some small aid.
I absolutely hate it when people think they can rip others off or treat they like crap/idiots and get away with it. IQBeGone would be good for such asshats (I do not think that is a word, but I’m sure it gets the sentiment across without needing to be more … graphic or should I say colourful in language).
Best of luck to you!
RE House: Yeah, the next move would have been to actually go through the motions to be in a position to withhold paying rent and fixing the problem, or move out early. I never really looked at the long term prospects of the former (what if they want me gone the next time the contract rolls around, and the rent-hold hasn’t yet paid for the cost of the repairs?), and the latter has other issues (Namely the time involved in finding another place, and then moving, and then getting all the shit I need together, let alone the additional cost of having to deal with new deposits, moving itself etc).
RE Car: The problem basically stems from them doing a shit job of finding the problem(s) in the first place. I took the car in the first time for ’em to do a thing, because I kinda know one of the dudes who runs the front desk there and they do it for free (one of the main reasons I kept going back there, I don’t feel like some faceless idiot and I can happily sit and talk shit about video games with the dudes that work the counter). I’ve had to do it a few times so I know what the symptoms were and I knew something was slightly different- two overlapping problems. They did the thing and cleared a bunch of tripped ECU errors at the same time and told me it was fixed; I had asked ’em to take it out on a quick test drive to see if the other thing was fixed too, but they never did. They literally just cleared the trips and said it was fixed without paying much attention to them. I got it like, maybe 50 yards before the underlying problem I’d first noticed appeared itself.
My entire argument for them was if they had been able to adequately and properly identify the two problems up front, I probably never would have tried to fix it. The first round of idiocy with the trip reset and absolutely zero further testing tells me they probably paid no attention to what was actually tripped in the first place. They claimed it was probably garbage, but they also couldn’t tell me what codes they actually reset either, so who knows if there was any hint of the second problem already rearing its head there or not. Their failure to do that gave me enough to batter them into accepting a deal where I’d pay them the absolute minimum the job could cost (fair, imo- the problem is there and if it doesn’t go wrong then it’s not that expensive, and it’s not like they caused it, just failed to disclose/discover it) and it was up to them how they got it done. They ended up trucking the car to a specialist diesel place, paying the rate they charge, trucking it back, and then putting like 15 miles on it to make sure nothing else was fucked.
£1200 was borderline for the first round of fixes for if it was worth while even doing. £2400 up front would have been a complete non-starter, fuck the car off and buy something new. It’s an eleven year old Focus, and it wasn’t all that expensive when I bought it either. I just so happen to really fucking like the car, so £1200 was a stretch I was willing to make to keep it around a little longer. Also I’m desperately trying to avoid going in for a new car to keep costs down, so I can save up enough and escape House problems by buying my own place.
Just my luck that I comment on this post and I end up with having issues with my F350 today.
Well, in honesty, if a used car is what you seek, I’ve had a 1994 Toyota pickup that wasn’t driven and sat for 4 years before being driven again, and that little piece of shit is a trooper. Oil wasn’t changed for years, surprised it had gas in it to begin with, battery connections almost disconnected from corrosion. The lil thing still started up, and drove for 1200 miles before I had to seriously service it, which was only oil, tires, lights and transmission fluid.
I’d have to say, check out Toyota vehicles. Older cars can entirely be more reliable than the newer ones, but it comes down to care for the vehicle as well. Mine had as minimal care as possible and still functions. Good luck sorting through this, Gedan.
A member of teams TiTS that doesn’t evolve into SickGed or the final form of DeadGed? I don’t believe it.
idk, i had a headache for like 2 days once about a year and a half ago, thats about it
clearly i am just dead inside already
Wow, it doesn’t rain with you does it? It pours! That’s a lot of financial ‘could do without’ right there on both counts.
Re house:
Presuming the negotiating with landlord is a no-go, have you already tried complaining to environmental health or legal action? That will let them know you are not to be messed with, but could also leave you with animosity from the landlord, which could also be a pain to deal with. To be honest cutting your losses and finding somewhere else to live seems to be the most prudent thing to do. Even though it will be an absolute pain, in the long run it would prove to be better for you at least. Getting them blacklisted as a bad landlord would be good too, could really do without those sorts of people around. Reminds me of the cowboy landlords when I was looking for somewhere whilst at uni back in the day…
Getting your own house would be good if you can afford it, but in this day and age, (surprisingly) that is also a minefield which comes with it’s own set of problems potentially. So be very cautious with any house you decide to buy and check EVERYTHING, because if there are problems you are not aware of when you buy a property; costs can skyrocket really quickly!
Re car:
11 years for a diesel is nothing! Or at least should be. Mine is a Skoda 2003 still going strong, one year I had to spend £800 on it, but that was tyre changes as well as alternator and I can’t remember what else. It was about four occasions it had to be looked at in one year. Good cars Skoda, at least since VW took them over. My 2nd car was a Skoda (it was written off) as is my 3rd (current) which was bought second hand, so I swear by them. Diesels have, as far as I know, always been considered far more reliable and hardy than petrol (especially where mileage is concerned).
Hopefully someone can knock some sense into the government, over the absolute bullshit they are trying to pull over diesel cars, but… Wait what am I thinking? Has there ever been a government with sense? But I digress.
Anyhow, again, I wish you all the best and do keep us updated. Most probably not much we can do, but at least we can help you vent and offer encouragement, maybe even sage advice (don’t count on the latter, though I am trying to at least).
House stuff has all been trying to find a balance between getting it done and fucking people off. Running in with both barrels cocked and ready to blast fools is all well and good, but it is probably going to make enemies in the process. Just enough was happening to make me back off on taking it a step further (see: revolving door of different contractors, but nothing actually getting fixed) which dragged things out a bit, but I eventually put my foot down over that and picked for them and it got done.
Car, there has only ever really been one problem with it, and that’s the exhaust. The specifics of the DPF system on the focus model I have is shite, as far as I’m aware, everything else after is a totally different system with far fewer kinks. Everything that has cropped up with it has been related to the DPF system not doing what it was supposed to, and if anything ever goes sideways with it again it’s not getting fixed, it’s getting torn out. The only reason I didn’t do it this time is I was facing like a 40+ mile drive through shitty traffic with no turbo to get it to a garage with a decent rep for removing ’em, and as a diesel-driver I’m pretty sure you’ll agree with me when I say “Driving a turbo diesel with no turbo is shiiiit.” That and the cost of fixing it this time pretty much matched the cost of removing it at a decent shop. Having the DPF out might make MOTs a bit sketch going forward, but it’s that or keep facing a couple hundo quid bill for putting it right every few years, pretty much.
If its like a tractor trailer then that DPF needs a regen done every so often. Diesels are good but when stuff goes wrong on them it just seems to cost way more. If you also have to have DEF fluid them I feel even more bad for you. All that stuff is why truck drivers here in the US were buying rolling chassis trucks and just putting in pretty much what ever engine they wanted go get around with all the BS emissions stuff diesels have. Now they cant really do that anymore because of the EPA. But now as a drive of a diesel F350 I know what its like when crap goes south. Something on my truck has the computer throwing fault codes left and right randomly.
Static regen in theory only needs to be done on this if it hasn’t seen a long enough trip at high enough temps. Or if it’s run out of PAT/Eolys fluid, which is a distinct possibility, because there’s no way to monitor how much of it there is with any degree of ease, and there is no dash info for when it does finally run out. Or it just decides to fuck me around.
