I can honestly say I’ve never seen that happen.
Shoulda followed me back in the CoC days! New releases were just a single file upload, so I’d toss them up willy nilly with every little change.
TBH I felt bad backers had so much empty waiting last month and made an effort to jump on some content I figured I could code fast so that this month would be better for them.
We’ve actually done it a few times to fix stuff, or if energy levels have remained high long past the point we woulda stopped working and added something significant.
I remember for some nasty bugs given to Public, but not more content in Backers on the same day of Public, right after Public. I get what Fen wants but, I’m with Banana. The feeeels. 🙁

I followed the projects here for about a year before becoming a backer. In the past when a public build has been released with a significant bug issue, fenco has been pretty good about putting out a public patch to address bad bugs within the same day or two.
They’ve never left the public with a brick build, and have been consistent with updates.

Fen is under no obligation to release public builds at all, you’re stealing from people wher this is their primary income not a huge studio. It’s a minor update.

Look, mate, even with monthly public builds, you’re getting a ludicrous amount of free content. You’re basically getting a decently-sized novella of writing every month for free. Backing’s only five dollars, and while it’s fine if that isn’t workable for you, don’t be shitty and entitled about it.
I can’t wait for more pregnancy content, that’s the fun stuff the got me hooked on CoC in the beginning. Of course I am enjoying TiTs as well but we’ll always want more… everything?
I just wish there was more to the birthing aspect. The only time we see that is when the PC gets knocked up, but for the NPC(s) that we Sow, all we get is an email basically stating that we missed it even if we are in the same room as said NPC(s) when it happens. at least in CoC it waits until you see them again to initiate the birth scene. So with the pregnancies being so few so far, now would be a good time augment the system to allow that. Before things get too busy that adding the scenes would be too much work.
You have simultaneously identified the weakness and the solution but missed the problem.
The problem is nobody is really quite sure what the best way to handle the actual birth portion of the equation that is both satisfying but not a potential turnoff for a huge portion of the playerbase. Nobody knows really how to bring a pregnancy to its final culmination, so nobody really writes pregnancies at all, so nobody is really looking to fix it right now.
One way or the other, once I’m done with the ship combat, I’m gonna hit something involving pregnancy from scratch (probably something on New Texas, because I kind of want to turn it into something of a generic thing that we can splash around on a few characters there or something).

Well actually, it isn’t “personal” for me at all.
At some point people just started to assume that the ~red dragon~ was my scalesona or something, but it isn’t- she was first conceived as a character to fit into a specific story (in a game, no less!). A lot of her initial design was based around trying to make an ‘idealised’ character for 3D work and not, actually, what appealed to my taste specifically- the whole thing has grown on me since yeah, sure. Some number of years later whilst that story (and game) never happened I’m trying to reuse and rework it into something that can fit inside TiTS. I have a lot of porn of her in various states, versions and othersuch because I say to myself “I want to see X thing” and then I have like, one character already there with a bunch of art I can use as references… so she just gets voluntold for everything regardless.
This isn’t ‘I’m totally not a furry’ argument either; just… she’s not like a personal thing to me, I don’t identify with or as her on any level. Her being in the game wouldn’t be a “HUE HUE LOOK AT THIS FGT SELF INSERTING” and shit, it’ll be a case of her finally doing what I intended for her to do in the first place. I might play up to it from time to time, don’t get me wrong, but I actually don’t really care all that much what people would wanna do/say/etc about her.

She was originally going to be called Gedan, but I ended up stealing the name when I started to actually get involved in the community beyond lurking. Since that she’s had like a dozen filler-names- jokey shit, but enough to get across who is being referred to.
I settled on calling her Tharchon in a pinch a few months ago (somebody was asking, specifically, for what to call her for a commission, it might actually have been Jay), but I need to change it more because it is p much lifted from EVE as a “that’ll do for now, I guess.”
Also yeah, the plan is to slide in an actual race and a bunch of other examples of said race at the same time, rather than leaving it as a mysteriously unexplained insertion of this one-off-one-time race.
CoC handled Birthing really well. So I’m sure you could take few things from that and expand upon it Without making it uncomfortable. And As long as it’s on the docket then I am content. So really, no pressure Do what you have to do first.
Well, for one CoC got away with a lot of things that for one reason or another we can’t do here. It isn’t so much the birthing that is the issue, directly, but the state of the children immediately after.
Fen has been absolutely adamant that there is no such thing as accelerated growth in TiTS- the rest of us agree to various degrees, but that is the rule we operate under. In CoC just about everything the player (or any other character for that matter) can give birth to is generally fully capable and self-sufficient if not immediately, within a matter of literal hours. It can wander off and fend for itself literally the moment the scene ends. I think maybe there’s one or two exceptions- but they are STILL contrived accelerated growth scenarios, where the kid is basically an adult within days if not weeks.
So, we’re stuck with babies that are going to be that way for a considerable time that have to be born, kept safe, transferred to a more secure place and shipped off to the nursery.
Do we stop the player from giving birth unless they’re on their ship or in what could be considered a ‘safe’ area? How long do we stop it for? Indefinitely? Because the player can be in a “hostile” area for literal game-weeks without going anywhere that could be considered safe.
Do we forcibly move the player to their ship? What if they’re in the middle of a dungeon quest, or somewhere they otherwise wouldn’t be able to return?
Do we force them to return to the nursery to give birth there? How do they get there? How do they get back to their ship to get there?
If we let the player give birth in places other than the nursery, do we force them to go back to the nursery immediately with their new children? Or do we send them some other way? How does that ship miraculously never run into trouble with pirates, even if the player is in the hottest and most dangerous parts of the (eventual) space map with actual space pirates hanging around shooting up the place?
Thats a lot of things to handwave away. Some could be yes, but trying to do it all just… it’s just not going to be a satisfying result imo.
I’m happy with the pregnancy stuff in game already, meaning I love what is there so far. I just want more, like in CoC you could get pregnant by just about anything you came across in your adventure so long as the proper equipment was present. I figure TiTs will eventually get to that points it’s just a matter of when. I just don’t wanna wait for things involving my favorite fetishes, but at the same time it’s not something I can really do anything about to I have to wait anyway.
You mentioned in a post further down that since TiTS can’t do the whole “babies fresh outta the womb grow up via magic and breast milk” thing what happens to the children in the nursery that are deemed able to fend for themselves and what age would that be? Not many people will rack up years in a normal play-through but if they are pregnant happy and don’t have any gestation modifiers they can breeze through months/years easily by going to the nursery and wait till birth/delivery option. Also with the potential turn off with birth scenes it could be handled like how CoC handled the worms fetish thing.

Well what I want to see as a long term kinda plan is to pepper in some unique children along the way that are far more fleshed out with the implication all of your children basically have the same opportunity- it’s just that some fly… closer to their mother/father than others in a way. Basically, to follow somewhat in the footsteps of their progenitor. They all have the opportunity at a college/university level education, paid for on the company dime, get educated in various fields, find jobs easily with Steele Tech etc, and it gives the player a chance to either be absentee OR stick around and try to be a little more involved.
The system was built to handle it, but we have nothing plugged into it for any of this yet. It won’t be an issue for a long, long time, but once the actual space travel mechanics come into play with more variance (and length) involved in travel and there are more reasons to keep moving around, that’s when I think it’ll start to come up for the general playerbase to “see” their children mature to such a degree.

But seriously, let’s talk about Day 1 DLC. It’s entirely possible the developers finished the game, then went off and developed some DLC while the game was passing console verification checks and being printed/distributed (a process that easily takes a month), and that said DLC could be ready at launch. I have no beef with that.
In practice, a lot of Devs cut content from the game, then do a little spit-shine on it and release it, which sucks.
As for this, tough shit. I thought we had enough content for a new build and decided to do the Pubbie build early since I’d be gone Thursday. Then I rolled into the backlog and blasted through Liamme in about 4 hours, so I was able to throw it up at the very end of the day.
I am completely unsympathetic to crying that your month of free content doesn’t include the first thing released afterward simply because it happened fast. Oh no, the next free build is going to be that much bigger. I can only imagine what a sweat you’ve worked up from the mental gymnastics it takes to justify that sort of thought.
It’s almost like backer content is meant for people who pay to support him or something. I gotta agree with Fen on the cum-glazed shitbasket thing. Maybe with “entitled” thrown in there somewhere.

Well this time it was a character with image done. It would be strange if you did not know this would be done within the day. But yes, the game is free. And more importantly there is no noted bugfixes, so what you got is stable and the NPC may not be. It could steal your stuff and murder everyone on your ship! Or worse, remove your huge dong! I remember that sort of thing being touched upon after you get her the harness, but never mentioned again. I guess it would probably be a bitch to figure out how to work it, let alone code that kind of thing though. But it would be pretty cool, even as a one-off type of scene.

You know, all this talk about the Children and I have to Wonder; what is the plan for Player Children going forward? How long will they stay in the Nursery? And will we be able to hear from them again when they leave? Though I am content with how things are going so far, and also my original thought on the Birthing was more for the NPC pregnancies not necessarily the PC pregnancies. As those births normally happen on the ship anyway. And you make very good points as to how PC Birthing would/could be handled in future. Granted now I’m curious as to if the PC can currently give birth off ship, going to have to try that out later, as all times I’ve seen thus far have only been on-ship. I would love to help with this in anyway I can.
I apologize if I came off in a negative light, I’m just trying to figure somethings out and get clarification on matters that interest me.
