A link to the full grading document can be found posted in the submission thread for the contest. Thanks again for the effort, energy, and love you guys baked into these. We’re going to code a few more of these then roll back to our regularly scheduled content for a good long while.
Thanks,
F
P.S. You guys seen this Venture Seas game? They just put out a demo that shows a TON of potential! The guy that makes it did a thing called “Euphorian Tide” that was very CoC-inspired back in the day, and I suppose this is the next step in its progression!
Damn the competition was fierce! Congrats to the winners!!
@fenoxo: is it worth it for me to complete my submission with the full content I had in mind (what I submitted was ~35% of what I was planning, but 30 pages in 2 weeks with full time job and social life was the max I could write) or there is no chance that it will reach the actual game?
Which submission is yours?
The Klaasy Invasion. The mini-dungeon that fell a bit short at the end.
Not without punching up the writing quality a bit. Too many technical flaws for me to use.
Wait who’s fifth then?
Number 2 has two winners, thus there are 5 total even though it only shows 4 on the side.
Sorry about that. I edited for clarity.
So how do we know which submissions are getting put in? Sorry if I missed the answer somewhere
You don’t.
Congrats to the winners!
I had already feared that my submission was not up to the usual writing standards…Punching it out in the last few hours before the deadline was a recipe for desaster and I knew it was. Still, I would be lying if I said Im not bummed out…
Obviously, it will be too late but I hope Im allowed to resubmit it at a later date.
Of course! It won’t be for the contest, but you can certainly submit it through the normal process.
congrats to the winners and happy boxing day!
Congratulations, everyone. 😀
Oh man, I loved Euphorian Tides and was sad as fuck when it was shut down.
Couldn’t care less about Venture Seas. The dev barely got anywhere with his first game before randomly abandoning it.
I actually tested out Venture Seas a bit sometime ago, but iirc it was extremely unstable and prone to random crashing. I’m not sure if this has changed or not.
I tested it out right now, and it’s so god damn bland and uninspired. Sure, it got direction (unlike the devs previous game), but this is just boring. I guess this is what happens when you base a game soley on player feedback without having any sense of creative freedom.
Creative integrity*
Didn’t this game come out like 2 years ago? Or was Euphorian Tide literally the same game but under a different name, because I swear I played the alpha for this a long time ago. It was very basic back then, and not really memorable for anything besides its art style, the combat was a pain in the ass too I think.
So is this just a reboot of that one? If so, I have my doubts about this, because seriously they should have had something more substantial after so many years of working on it. More power to them if they make it work, but I’m not expecting much.
well it was playable a few years ago but i have to agree its not much different that the version 2 years ago
Congrats to everyone that has won and will see their submissions in the game. I am certainly looking forward to reading them. As for the trailer, it looks interesting but will probably wait to try it.
Also this is extremely random because it just popped up in my head. I remember in a post months ago on here, Fen, you shared a glimpse of a new project you were doing. I remember it was information on an ausar-like race. I’m just curious if you ever shared anymore sneak peeks that I missed or do you blog about it elsewhere? I know I was curious to see the other races you mentioned and the great art, of course.
I actually don’t recall teasing any ausar-like races at all! Not sure what you’re thinking of – maybe I did, and it slipped my mind. Dunno!
maybe he means the korgonne? they’re puppers as well.
I ended going back several pages looking for it and found it! It was the Korgonne but it looks a lot different to what we know them as in TiTS now. https://www.fenoxo.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/preview_korg.jpg I think I just assumed then that it was non-TiTS related considering how the art and description is more medieval looking, I guess. Was this the original idea for them or still something else you’ve got planned?
And she* oogabooga (love the name).
Just curious, will I be allowed to resubmit my Halloween submission next year? I was very proud of it, but I fear most people avoided reading it because of how I organized it (I separated combat, sex scenes, etc. Into like 5 different documents)
Could try tweaking it and get more feedback before you submit it again. Maybe keeping it all in 1 smooth readable flow instead of having people jump back and forth to analyse it?
I don’t actually know how to write submissions so I don’t know how to tweak it. People were saying add a header but I don’t know what that is.
It’s easiest to read as is, I don’t know how to make it simpler. Everything is in chronological order, the things that were separated are flavor text or descriptions of boss abilities. I’ve also probably got some spacing issues with sentences, I wrote it on mobile so everything looks bigger than it actually is.
If you have any way to improve my writing I’d greatly appreciate it, improvement always helps. The docs are open to comments.
Your shit didn’t get in because it was complete shit. What don’t you get from that?
Did you actually read it? Because if not that was incredibly rude, also even if you did read it it’s still quite rude. This is a civilized place of civilized people.
If we do a contest again. You can bet your bottom I’ll be cruising through the grading sheet to see if there’s any more worthwhile stuff to add in a year’s time.
Excellent, the world always needs more dragon ass.
“Here’s a screenshot of the grading sheet for the top nine or so.”
Was there supposed to be a link in here Fen?
Whoops! Yeah I missed inserting the link. Cut that text blob for now.
