Alright boys and girls, it turns out that now is the time. “The time for what?” you may ask. It’s high noo – no wait, it’s time to go nuts on our javascript port, as the title no doubt told you. For now this is for backers only. You guys have supported us while this bad boy has been in the oven, suffering delay after delay, and it’s only fair that you first crack at the results!
But before that, let me give you a few notes and warnings:
- Saves with items that have not been ported/updated for the javascript build will not import. Don’t go nuking all the old stuff just yet – we’re entering new territory, and who knows what could break with all this new tech! We’re not exactly packing a full QA team.
- Seriously, the number of surprise bugs we managed to find while beating this into shape over the weekend had me doubting if we would have this anywhere near presentable by the end of the weekend.
- The game is currently set up to crash hard when just about anything is misconfigured. This is good for helping to track down bugs that might silently fly under the radar. Sorry! Save early and often!
- Hotkeys are non-final, and the WASD hotkeys on the main button dock to do not currently work.
- Inventory in combat is unavailable.
- Looting with full inventory still uses the old UI, and the “Use” option should be disabled (but if not, it doesn’t work anyway).
- Some inaccessible areas are currently visible even when they shouldn’t be, like the pumpking’s fortress and the like. Don’t sweat it for now.
- TF items were not extensively tested and likely hold the most unreported bugs (in this minotaur’s estimation).
- When reporting bugs, please use the new bug report forum for Javascript TiTS bugs.
Notable New Features:
- Redesigned and rebuilt shop and inventory screens, complete with per-item icons (currently assigned by type, usually).
- Dynamic appearance outline for the player character that scales to match your stats. Note that it does not and will not reflect more specific changes like snouts, wings, etc, but it’s good for eyeballing the general shape. You can access your appearance screen by clicking on it outside of interactions/scenes.
- Rebuilt map system that can display rooms more than a handful of links away without lag, including a larger pop-out map option that lets you get a better grip on your surroundings.
- New Codex and Email displays, redesigned and snappier than I had dared hope for.
- “Image pack” functionality baked into the main game so that you can see fabulous art in some of the scenes.
- Revamped combat UI… it’s good. It’s real good. It also includes bigger windows for checking out who you’re fighting.
- Updating hacking puzzle systems. Lights out looks much nicer, and the circuit-routing puzzles? We added like 10 new kinds of nodes, some of which you can see yourself as part of the Comms hacking puzzle in FIRST-14. Be careful, because I boobie trapped that one…
- Fancy new loading screen, complete with hilarious placeholder image courtesy of Geddy.
- Seriously the entire front-end of the game (and most of the underlying systems) have been rebuilt from scratch at great cost. No expense was spared! According to Geddy’s off-the-cuff estimates, ~60% of the “things that make the game work” have been entirely rebuilt. I’m sure I’m forgetting some things, but hey, that’s what the edit button is for, right?

Hammering out some of the remaining unfinished systems may take a little time, but once those are done, I suspect we will be able to deploy the other planets in relatively rapid fashion.

EDIT2 (Geddy made an eloquent and accurate description): The goal is to get all of the basics squared away.
Then we’re going to do some work on building a better mobile centric UI experience.
Then we’re look into some more elaborate things regarding webapps and mobile devices, but this won’t be a package to download and install.
Then we’ll look at packaged installations ala APKs. Because we can’t do this for iDevices, so it’s bottom priority of the mobile enhancement list.
Will there be a downloadable PC client version at some point?
The JS version is a mobile version. On most browsers you can “add to home screen” which creates an app like container for the game. Its still got. Few bugs that arent on pc (i.e. Hover text doesn’t show) but its playable on android and iOS
I’m probably alone in saying I’m a bit disappointed the Image Pack is default, now. I hope the art isn’t distracting when reading through scenes.
We’ll make it oiptional in a future patch.

Anyone else having trouble with fights? I picked “Smuggler”, and set to easiest stuff, and haven’t managed to win a single one. Enemies resist or dodge. Is there some trick? I can’t get through the tutorial. I haven’t played TiTS in a year or two!
Will there ever be an official save editor? For those who just like trying out all the different combos?
Looking great, not a bug per se but I’m not seeing an option to set gender preference? Would love to be able to force or customize race as well but I know that’s never been a feature.

im having issues reseting my password in order to login to the site itself. I’m not sure what the issue is, my email is right when I type it in but the email never reaches me?
This might just be me missing something obvious, but… Where do I check my stat points outside of the level up screen? Like how much Aim, Willpower, etc, I have?

No better time for comprehensive feedback, so I went through a bunch of stuff and wrote down my thoughts. A bit messy, but I wrote what I thought when I encountered it.
Importing a brand new save from the backer version didnt seem to work at all
Height Presets, neat even though it seems odd
Toggle Between Icons and Text would be nice for the buttons
Having to switch between map and stats feels like a downgrade
Character view is nice
Pop out map is neat, but doesnt show whole area or other floors
With the move buttons moved, the rest of the menu feels pretty empty in comparison to before
Inventory Categories, Really nice
Ability to scroll instead of page navigations, big improvement
Having to inspect to compare, seems like unecessary extra step
No more hovering descriptions, have to click, an option for both would be nice
Way to drop multiple separate items at once?
A lot of things seem to have been shunted into the codex, instead of having its own button, which isn’t great, the less submenus the better
Codex doesn’t have locked anymore, which was helpful in knowing there is something to search for
While mail makes sense to be in the codex, and you dont really use level up enough for it to matter, appearance really needs its own button
Having status effects and perks with appearance seems pretty fine to me, although see previous issue with map and stats
Status effects don’t have a timer, but that might just be unimplemented yet
Everything about the shop menu upgrades is just a real QOL change, except for the removal of hover comparison, as well as the map and stats issue again. You have to switch to see your credits, as its part of status

The decentralized ship is a new experience, but I personally would still like buttons to jump around at the entrance.
As a side note to that, the sleep button should be in both the rest menu and have its own button next to the shower one, if you’re standing on its tile. Also, it defaults to using the tent even while on the ship.
Having previous turns shown in combat could be useful. I personally turned off the auto scrolling feature, I was too used to things just popping up. It would be nice if the spefific spot where damage numbers appeared was a bit more consistent
Player and Enemy displays swapping sides is noticeable, but easily adjusted to

This is *really* impressive, actually. I’m looking forward to making the switch once this reaches parity with the Flash version. I’m pretty stoked to see where this goes, and what new things this might lead to in the future.

Is anybody else having problems signing up for the bug report forum? I tried to sign up, but the “short name for one of our games” gave me pause. I tried the obvious “TiTS” and it rejected that. I tried a second time to make sure I hadn’t fumble-fingered it and got “The sysadmin has blocked this email.”
Since the time it took for that to happen was measured in seconds, I assume that in fact it was a program that blocked me, not a person. Is this more of the same as the main forum, where certain email solutions are not allowed? Because there is NO WAY I am having my main email associated with this part of my existence, for reasons.
If I cannot file bugs, then there is little reason to play the JS version at this time. And if all development effort is on the JS version (a VERY GOOD decision, IMHO), then that basically means there’s no sense in playing at all for several months. And if so, can I justify continuing to donate to the Patreon for this?

I’m an Offbeatr backer, have been able to access Backer builds for a long time. But for some reason, when I click the embedded link that’s supposed to go to /play/tits/backer, it keeps taking me to the main page, and not the JS build.
I’m on Chrome on Windows, and this has also occurred in incognito/private window, so it’s not a caching issue.

I’ m very glad to play this again on the computer and not my tiny screen. It’s amazing but I have a few questions. I can’t find the option to find my gender preference, is it not in the appearance menu anymore? Does the codex no longer give you body information? Are there any plans to add a crotch display to the manikin?

I’m liking the new look but as someone who is playing on my phone it is shuddering alot. Aside from that I’m looking forward to a proper mobile version to download(in the near future I hope)
