- Azra’s expedition on Mhen’ga is now live. It’s a small quest with two fights geared toward level 3 players.
- Azra’s “Samples” menu has been added, though only after completing the Mhen’ga quest. It allows interactions with some rescued flowers – utilized reused texts from Holli’s early form in CoC.
- New busts: Dane (by JayEcho), and Kaska (by Adjatha)
- Many minor fixes and edits courtesy of Jacques00.
There’s likely plenty of fucky problems in this bunch of combat. It’s my first time coding multiple enemy fights myself (Gedan did all the others), and I can already think of a few edge cases for things I did not test.

You mentioned you really reaaaaally hate combat coding in your previous post. What is it in specific that you don’t like about it? Is it a lot more complex, is it because you started adding in the ability to fight multiple opponents in one fight? The way you set up the framework and regretting some decisions?
Just genuine interest in what makes it stand out so much from the rest that makes you hate it.
Just a lot of busywork. Every NPC needs a full statblock of all the attributes that a player can have set, equipment assigned, etc.
Then you need to work out all their attacks, most of which wind up being newly introduced mechanics that need a variety of checks, miss chances, etc.
Adding in multiple enemy fights is slightly more annoying but not much.
Adding a second person on the PC’s side is more annoying because every text needs variants for targeting the other party member.
It’s just a lot of annoying work is all.
I guess it’s not something easy as choosing between a few templates of stats/gear and select other gear with a dropdown menu and picking between skills and modify them slightly.

Between the irregular updates for ship mechanics and now this post saying that you’re doing work Gedan usually does, should we be worried? What’s up with the code dragon?
Aren’t many of the updates waiting for ship mechanics to be finished? Is there a timeline for that completion?
Gedan has been busy with ship stuff since at least April.
True, and one of fen’s comments from last blog post mentioned that she sometimes posts updates, but there’s not a lot to show off. I can’t help but be curious.
Not trying to speak for Fen and Co, but it could simply be that Gedan is slowly working through things as best as possible.
Geddy’s working on it. There’s a ton of backend and new subsystems that need done for it to be a thing.

I glanced at the code a little, rambling functional paradigm with a side of ‘sketty? Not sure if that’s a limitation of the language, just the way it rolls, or something else; however a more strictly organized OOP approach might suit the breadth and complexity, and save you oodles of sanity.
Might allow stuff like adding a new NPC to a combat scenerio to be handled with much higher level tools (generic leveled combatant template, job/class template, etc); again, sanity. Just a thought, if such is even possible in the language.
Possible but we aren’t doing it for a variety of reasons. Within insane customization comes EVEN MORE INSANITY.
I know this it not really the place for recommendations but before you can sex Azra there should be a battle where you find pirates using women and children for labor (I guess harvesting/stealing plants) and you stand up to them like her husband did, obviously initiating a battle with a “got killed by pirates” bad end or get to shag Azra good ending for her quest.

Ah, but .66 had a stealth release. Only 7 is missing. 6 was a hotfix for a few minor bugs, like the Kashima State for Ushamee email.
