- Blackjack minigame has been updated so that nobody wins or loses on a tie. Wheeeeee~!
- [Imagepack Only] You no longer need to ask Roo about herself 50 times to unlock talking about her job. It has been set to 5. This’ll be in the normal backer patches moving forward.

I mean, it’s slightly annoying right now, but we’re also playing against the house on a freakin’ pirate base, and outlaws generally aren’t as fair as legal gambling outfits are. And legal gambling outfits aren’t fair at all. Now, if you were part of a gang, you could probably leverage that into fairer rules, but as a freelancer you don’t really have much clout to throw around (being disarmed upon entry and all). Being fleeced is to be expected. Besides, if you aren’t willing to die for the punana then you really didn’t want it. Still, you’re a merciful god, Fen, benevolent to boners of all genders.
Realistic framing is a horrible excuse to have a painfully un-fun setup for a minigame.
This blackjack is still in a place where I do not enjoy it in the slightest – it is pure rage-induction.
Nobody would gamble if they -consistently- lose like this minigame – casinos would not be the multi-billion-dollar industry that they are.
At this point of banging my head against this, I’m going to suggest an easymode skip ability or something – because I now have absolutely no desire to ever play another blackjack minigame for the rest of my life.
Meteor07 guide to the blackjack minigame :
1)Pay close attention to your hand number, if it’s bellow 11 or 12 you should go with Hit. If it’s higher than 12 be carefull, if i remember correctly the highest you can get with Hit is 10, meaning you’ll go bust in a single draw if you’re not careful.
2) Also pay close attention to your opponents hand, if you have say a 15 while you’re opponent has an 8, chances are you’re going to lose. the reason for this is that with a higher number comes the risk of going over 21 more easily, and because they have a lower number means they have less of a risk of going over.
3) now this one may be just a bug, but i did notice that the blackjack system is kinda wonky, i had an occurance where i think i pressed Hit, and the the opponent Hit twice. so maybe look out for that.
4) Now this one i just discovered recently, which others probably also know, is that all is not lost if the opponent has a 20 and you have say, a 19. if that happens try pressing stand, i think i recently had an experience where roo had a 21 and i had a 20 and chose to stand and i won.
5) Make use of save scumming, of course.

I’d say it’s quite a bit more than “slightly annoying”. I’d say if your luck is bad, it’s rage-inducing. And it’s just to unlock a damn sex scene. I’m not sure if it’s even worth it. Is it realistic? Probably. Is it actually fun to play? No.
So much this. I haven’t play this fixed version yet, but even save scumming (saving after every win, loading on a fail) it took me a whole damn HOUR to get to the sex scene last night! An hour of playing a gambling minigame, in my porn game, to access one single new NPCs scenes. Side note, I also made something like 125k or so before I got to that point, and that’s with 0 losses since I was save scumming. If I had my chain broken at any point in there, the required amount of winnings would be crazy high.
Will the blackjack hotfix be public?
It is, but its still just rage inducing.

“You didn’t like something I did in the game? Okay, lemme redesign it to make you enjoy this game more”
To be fair, at this scale, with a text game, this kind of turn around involves one person making a decision, coding it and writing a ‘this is a tie’ statement, then doing whatever needs to be done to make a new build. The more complex the game, the longer the ‘whatever’ part takes.
But on the flip side, we and Fen & Co do have a great relationship with each other. With how many hours I’ve played over the years, my $60 Offbeatre pledge has definitely payed off.
I’m pretty sure a huge part of the reason also involves money: we pay him to make a game we enjoy, and he enjoys making a game that we enjoy (and getting paid to do it!). Big game companies aren’t trying to make a good game, they’re trying to make a PROFITABLE game, which often involves getting paid as much money for as little work as they can get away with, and then moving on to make the next game they can pump out so we pay them again, etc, etc.
Big Gaming is quantity over quality (usually), while the smaller games aim for a quality over quantity approach.

yeah whatever flag is set to get that second dialogue option is still closed. I’ve beaten her… gese 6… 7 times now? I lost track, and I still don’t have that dialogue. Even got her “gift” for beating her a certain amount of times. Fix please?
You have to choose the “herself” talk option 5 times. After she talks about cookies you can choose the “her job” option.
Talked about cookies a couple of times now. Starting to worry my save is borked because I did a lot of talking BEFORE the patch.
Actual found a way to beat the house. Although the sex dialogue for Roo isn’t working properly. That aside this is a great and interesting patch.

How do I open/view/whatever the image pack? I downloaded the swf and tried opening it, but it just freezes. Is there a specific place I need to put it first or something? Thanks in advance!

So, how does the imagepack work? I downloaded it and tried opening it (the swf player I use runs the regular game just fine…) but it just froze. Do I need to do something to it to get it to work? Move it somewhere, perhaps?
It should just work. Maybe the download was corrupted somehow or your flash player can’t handle large files. Not sure.
how do i use image pack?
You’d need to download a stand-alone flash player, and load it up through that, I believe. I forget where I got it, but you can probably find one through a google search?
It’s essentially the exact same as a regular build, but in some scenes there will be images added in along with the text. The only one I know of at present is the one where you fuck Roo on the Blackjack Table. I would have to check through the logs to see other examples though
If someone wants to put together a wiki page with all the scenes that have images and how to trigger them, it would be raaaad.
Still trying to play this cheap game and getting no where. Dealer always seems to have the magic card to somehow pull ahead a point. Some of the double digit numbers are insta busts. 12 and 14 being bad luck that typically shoot you over 22.
Its more frustrating then it is any fun to be honest.
Blackjack isn’t for everyone! I’m sure we’ll have some less frustrating content you can appreciate soon.

I honestly have no idea what a rabbit-like tongue is or what it would be like.
Me neither to be honest but examining the bored jumpers during battle says it so I assumed it’s supposed to be a part of the package.
