Hey guys. Submissions are kicking my ass still. It probably doesn’t help that I’ve been talking about them repeatedly on the blog posts. From the 14th of this month on, we’ve had at least one new submission get added to the pile on a daily basis, which is making it damn hard for me to get current. I’m almost caught up to the 6th of this month though, sooo… I would be damn close if it wasn’t for the big uptick in submissions.
Because of this, I am no longer accepting submissions for new characters. New items and expansions for existing characters are all I will accept for the time being.
We’ve been real thin on patches while I’ve been trying to dig us out of this quagmire, and I’m not comfortable with that continuing in the long term. Once I’ve had some chance to do some actual game development again, I’ll see about tweaking the floodgates back open… but for now, let’s slow it down a bit.
P.S. I’m also waiting on new glasses. Reading everything in giant fonts makes me feel old. :/

Do most submissions just get emailed to you directly? Looking at the event submissions forum it doesn’t seem like there’d be a ton, but it seems kind of obvious that most must be coming from somewhere.
There’s a form that feeds into a spreadsheet.
Besides the public update I think backers only got one update this month right? And the next public build is coming soon too

I had my old pair for so long that the lenses were more scratches than lenses and when I got my new pairs, I had cloudy vision whenever I took them off. Only last two months.

New characters are welcome to diversify the game’s cast, but I do feel that the main plot has been moving a tad slow as of late. I would like to see more planets/areas/items/game systems [different ships and/or space combat when? ;)] so I think this is a good move.
I’m more into the TFs than the NPCs anyway.
I’d prefer they take their time with the main plot, the only issue was the release schedule for the month of May pretty much which I assume is what Fen is addressing here with this update.
I’m also more about the NPCs in contrast to you lol, I just love getting dicked down by every new person with the appropriate equipment and attitude to come along, and also being their personal cock rag cum baby factory.
Actually the main plot’s been moving remarkably quickly. We finished Zheng Shi in less than a year, whereas we spent like 3 mired on Myrellion.
Hmm, maybe I just feel like it’s slow because I’m not terribly interested in Zheng-Shi or Uveto as locations (meaning I basically bee-lined my way through them) so I feel like there hasn’t been much since Myrellion, even though I know otherwise.
TBF y’all also got kind of got sidetracked with Uveto for a fair while which last I looked had basically no bearing whatsoever on the main storyline… >_>
Yes, but that wasn’t entirely there fault. When Uveto was in pre-development, FenCo allowed the community to brainstorm and plan with them what was going to be in Uveto. A lot of them promised that they would write this and that for the world so it could be what it was always intended, a world that contained futuristic viking weapons, schools, and enemies plus an introduction to psionics to make the player stronger and more prepared for the challenges ahead. But then everyone besides Nonesuch and FenCo went AWOL and flaked. So now, they had been forced to compensate for the flakers just to fill out Uveto with a decent amount of content which has in turn left many of their own original characters incomplete. Especially Savin, who has Nerrasa, Anyxine, Kirila, Galina & Marina, Lurelings, the Frostwyrm, and even Shade & Astra obviously missing a lot basic of content and interactions you’d find with most other characters.

Uveto was Savin’s baby. He coordinated with a bunch of community writers who delivered almost nothing for it. I came in late and still got one of the first real NPCs on the planet (Nayna).
Then Savin got sick, and he sure as hell couldnt carry a planet solo at that point. I wound up eventually delivering the Korgonne village I promised I’d do, then slapped a big quest on top of it to give Uveto a nice, big chunky event to do.
Uveto’s not dead by a long shot.
Uveto was basically proto-Zheng Shi but written by randoms instead of knowns.
Hope Nykke gets a revamp it sucks that her content got stuffed over.
While on the topic of expansions (and sorry if this has been asked before), is there anything in the future for Emmy? Or is it something that’s not on the pipeline for the time being?

I doubt it, as Gianna and Ben/Bess are from rival companies. They’d be more likely to insult each other than refer to them as a sibling. I once put out the idea that someone could write a scene where they have a contest to see who could sexually satisfy the PC better, and if the PC didn’t meet an endurance/stamina check, that they’d literally be fucked to death by the ‘bots.
Rival companies with radically different AI styles. I doubt there’d be open conflict, but I’m not sure they’d get along.
And from an authorial standpoint – the permutations of Bess/Ben just aren’t worth trying to handle, especially when Gianna already has her own personality forks to deal with.
Hopefully this will be resolved sooner rather than later.

Just out of curiousity, was the character ban more due to the complexity of the content, or were there seriously a lot of character submissions this month?
As a person who has to read the code on a regular basis, I can tell you that by default actual characters are generally harder to code than most items. This is for 2 reasons. 1 is that most items, especially weapons have very neat, clean cut, template and format with how they are coded. It’s basically: long name, short name, base price, damage type, damage points. Items that change you are also a bit easier since the hardest part for them is making body part/transformation descriptions. Those are only hard if there are some special, additional effects like multiple item synergy and change over time. 2 is that people try hard to get there characters to stand out that they always have weird custom variables, tracking meter scales, and who knows how many scenes to view that require scenes to be viewed.
To answer your question (since I’ve been making a habit of checking the forums lately just to see what might be getting added in patches to come) yes, there are a ton of character submissions, both new characters and xpacks that assumidly have been in the lineup for a while (Fen did say he was working through like November of last year to current day). As Drox mentions, characters are a giant fukton of content which is both good and bad news. Good because a few easy-coded characters can make up several decent patches. Bad because, as Fen’s said before, most characters have a ton of pages of content that has to be sifted through and then coded. Believe he mentioned that Loreli was a good 80+ pages. Thats a good chunk of work right there. So ultimately this temporary ban on new submissions is simply to avoid a 100+page submission hitting him in the donger and making him lose the will to live since hes been having people beat him over the head with the submittion stick.
The idea is to get more expansions for existing characters and less random new NPCs that never get proper support.
Like Kelly and Hailey expansions.
Hopefully, this means that we can look forward to Khorgan as crew in the not too distant future. Maybe? Briha would be nice too.
I give it a sub-0% chance of happening this year. Possible but unlikely next.

There should definitely be a transformative just for hooves, like without getting other transformations, like a transformation item to change your hooves to deer, cow, pig, goat etc. and be able to change the color of the hooves like you are able to change the color of your lips with Lip Tease
They could add an expansion to hornitol so that it can be used for hooves, instead of adding in an entirely new item to do it.

I have glasses, but I also have SUCH a big monitor, that I’ve installed the old IBM font, from MS-DOS to make it easier to read my code & planning notes.

I just have a question, and forgive me if this sounds like a question already answered or something, but can we still suggest our fan made Species for trials in Tainted Space? Of course, that means people who made the bios will have to write it out and such, but still, I thought it might be worth asking.
On a separate note, I do have a couple of item name ideas, but I can’t seem to put two and two together. Names for items like a Breastalizer crystal…and i think thats the only item Ive got at the moment. But then again, its your game.
All in all, great work with the text adventure, and I hope to see more of it. Species, items, planets, it doesn’t matter. All that matters is that you put on there what you want to put on there. I don’t know if this was a solo or group project, but whoever created the game deserves top kudos. Continue making the game great!

TBH I’m approaching the “write it yourself” but I’ll wait for the content ban to get lifted first.
