Another week in the bug mines, chasing ghosts of stupid things that don’t make sense until I have a eureka moment of stringing along like 17 degrees of absurdity to produce some form of answer for what might be going on.
Fen has been spending a lot of time reviewing the work donkey has been doing on the Twilit TF item. I don’t know what state it’s currently in, but the two have been chopping the finer points of all of the mechanics that need to go on behind the scenes to make a TF work properly. I THINK it may be done right now, but I am in no presence of mind to try and exhaustively review TF code to checkbox it off and add it to the build until everybody is back from the weekend so we can go over it and give it the green light.
My brain is utter mush – I had the fun and enviable task of having to view five hundred pages of title deeds, property searches and purchase contracts this week and I’m only halfway through….

0.9.070 Hotfixes: Fen Monkeyin’ Around Edition:
- The button to levitate should no longer be overwritten by other special attack buttons.
- Fixed Debris Field having an incorrect tooltip.
- Fixed Acid Cloud’s tooltip listing an incorrect damage type.
- New Item: Sizzlepod Staff, a level 3 rare staff that deals corrosive damage and can be found in the deepest forests of Mhen’ga.
- Improved text field input limitations for things like names and email addresses.
- Fiddled with some kineticist damage calculations in an eternal quest for big round numbers that probably don’t change anything for you but give me more chances to accidentally introduce an error into the code…
- “canFly” and “isFlying” are now tracked independently. Previously nearly everything flying-related was derived from the “canFly” check.
- The levitation perk now makes “canFly” true, which should allow for all the flight-based transit events in the game world to work seamlessly with it.
- “canFly” no longer matters for most combat events – isFlying is far more important.
- Creatures that are flying are now immune to most traditional trip attacks. Sweeping the legs doesn’t do much to a flappin’ bird! Not all attacks that respect this have special text to notify you that it’s working, but it should be.
- Added a “hasTripImmunity” function under the hood, and having the “Planted” feat or being tripped already both set it to true, as well as flying or the generic “trip immune” status many NPCs have. This should simplify checking if a creature can be tripped down to one value to check.
- I touched a lot of combat encounters wiring this up, so I may have introduced a fat-finger bug somewhere along the line.
- Added an argument to “hasTripImmunity” to ignore the flight-based immunity for flight-countering trip effects like the kineticist has.
- The jetpack accessory and flight-capable wings now allow you to “lift off” in combat. The “lift off” option shares a button with levitate ability and its ilk, and I tried to be intelligent about how they all nest together so that natural wings don’t prevent you from using your levitate ability (since that grants +10 evasion and is the “better” choice) – but the wing option will appear when your energy is too low. I also made them respect flight-disabling effects like the web status.

There are still a number of Kineticist bugs.
1. Psychic Slam & Gravity Crush fail vs most targets.
2. Psychic Slam & Gravity Crush don’t reset cooldown after combat.
3. Debris Field persists through battles.
4. Debris Field has Gravity Flux’s tooltip.
5. Levitate’s button is overwritten by Drones.
6. Acid Cloud’s in-combat tooltip says it’s a Freezing attack.

Ty, passing this on to the team. I fixed the GC reset issue myself, should have been in any patching for August. I just submitted the same fix for PS, so that should fully take care of #2.

I may be missing something but I’m unable to progress Amber’s quest as Dr. Lessau doesn’t have any talk options related to it that I’ve noticed.
I’m looking into this, but as far as I can see most of the quest is not coded yet. The blog may be in error. Strange situation.

Despite the bugs, I will 100% only spam the Kineticist. I thank you greatly. Even in combat scenarios where it isn’t the better choice, ill do it anyways. Purely because I can. Who cares in the enemy beat me? THEY weren’t the ones moving shit with their minds.

There is a problem in ship storage. It’s multiplying items by an incredible amount. I had to discard over 100 shield aug bracers and over 1000 health poultices.
As far as anyone can tell, this is caused by Inspecting items while in Ship storage.
IS it only the start of Amber quest, I’ve gone to Uveto and gone to the LEssau lab but i see no option or side option to continue the quest, am I blind or missing something?
I am still coding the amber cure quest. There was a misunderstanding so it should be removed from the blog.

Dungeon? Amber quest isn’t done being coded yet. It was mentioned in the blog by misi. If you are talking about the undersea lab that is actually an unrelated quest.

It’s great to hear that some unfinished aspect of the game is working towards completion. My Steele hasn’t given Amber anything beyond a dose of Equilicum, because she doesn’t like breaking people, she like fixing them, so I will be glad if and when Amber’s cure quest is done.
Now, if only we could get something like that for Mitzi.

Thought crossed my brain. Just had the idea of dragging the leaders and diplomats of the various factions on Myrellion, having them look at Phaedra II and go, “SEE?! *THIS* is your future if you all don’t calm the f**k down and learn to get along!”
I know this sounds just awful and terribly wrong, but has anyone considered that NOT burn Myrellion in a nuclear fire is a true “evil” option, well on a galactic scale in the long run.

Has the Kineticist combat bugs been fixed?
The hotfix got most of them, but Psychic Slam and Gravity Crush still don’t work properly. They’re level 12 abilities, so it won’t affect you until then.
Just don’t Inspect the Rock you start with. It crashes. Apparently, the mysteries of the Rock would drive even a psychic mad.
Got it, I’ll wait for the next update/bugfix before examining the Rock, let alone reaching lvl 12.

I can’t seem to get the hellhound tf for Syri, is there something that can lock you out of it?

ooof I did that option.
Go to the cheat menu, activate Halloween events, fly more, go to the anomaly, meet the infernal Syri, etc. After the anomaly, talk to Syri about it and fly to Uveto to Lessau for the doggie gene cure. In about a week the cure will be ready and you will be able to choose to treat only the genes or do the transformation. The cheats should be activated when you talk to Syri or Lessau, even after you have left the anomaly. It worked for me.

Love the Kineticist, can we have an option to assign E-Drain as our ranged/melee attack? I like to use it as my auto-attack to regen energy, otherwise solid update and a good class to play with.
