(CoC2 also got a recent update.)
Lately, busy. Gedan has been going through the arduous process of converting the 24,000+ lines of code in Creature.as for use in a more Javascripty version of the game due to the coming Flashpocalypse, and with that, we’ve been having a lot of discussions about user interface, mobile support, etc. This has made me realize what a tremendous pain in the ass trying to make a “good” user interface is. Every possible change is a nightmare of tradeoffs in usability and efficiency between different platforms and input methods.
I don’t like it.
On top of that, I’m combing through a relatively massive backlog of submissions (especially after re-opening submissions a while back)! In the process of putting 2019 backlog behind me, the following projects got greenlit: SynthPussy, Horndog (Horn tweaking TF), Canine Synthsheath (PC use only so far), Muff Modeler (Dong Designer alternative), and an insect transformation.
Now that I’m into 2020, I’m halfway through reviewing a 60 page Kimber expansion with approximately 18 submissions to evaluate after that. Hopefully I can be back to writing/coding myself in a week, though that will depend on how many of these are good enough to get a full read – and long enough to make it take a while.
Sounds like FUN!!
The muff modeler sounds interesting
We stan a review backlog-clearing king.
Well don’t wear yourselves too thin. Enjoying the work thus far, and I’m in no particular rush. I waited around for the CoC1 updates like a quarterly bone report and just enjoy picking up and biting down on new content when it comes in bunches. Stay healthy. Also was cool hearing ya again on the Shy stream a bit ago.
Kimber expansion? That sounds great!
Thanks! Fenoxo gave it the greenlight today, and I’m working on some minor changes right now. It’ll be ready for the coding bin soon. 😀
Big HYPE
Thought you were doing some transitioning after hearing about the main menu getting reworked. I hope you manage a clean transition, oh and I nearly forgot the obligatory sarcasm. Have fun! But seriously, looking forward to it
I had wondered what you would do regarding the flash thing. I know it has security flaws like a block of swiss cheese but damn it was nice for making games with. I hope the javascript version isn’t gonna be too difficult to use. I’ve no idea where to even begin converting the flash stuff to javascript short of remaking the game from the ground up.
That feeling when two of the 18 submissions are yours…
Oh, that sounds like a mess. I hope it works out O.K. I’d thought it was working O.K. but if you have to switch, you have to switch.
What kind of game will Flashpocalypse be? Can we have more info?
Flashpocalypse ain’t a game, it’s referring to how Flash will be closed down for good on December this year.
Doesn’t that just mean there won’t be any more updates? People can still use Flash. You just need a player to play it. And it’s not like Fen will be using it as a backdoor into our computers, it’s not an online game, so what would be the problem of staying on Flash? Besides, unless he releases the Javascript version where it’s at the exact same place gameplay-wise (unless they started on a platform switch a while ago, I don’t think they’ll be that far into first planet or barely past it at most), I predict a LOT of people will drop their subscriptions. I mean, it may be on an out-of-date platform with security threats, but it would still have far more content and it’s not like Fen is using the game to hack/extract data from people. Unless Flash implicitly hacks people (like it deletes some of your data every time the programmer tries to output “Hello World” or something), then the game should be safe to play. And I’ve said in the past, there are browsers that will always have Flash capability. Internet Explorer being one of them.
Adobe has said that they’ll stop distributing it, too. And most of the browsers will block it.
i didn’t know about the browser block. not that that effected me much for what ever reason i couldn’t stand it in my browser i think it had to due with fullscreening so i always use the standalone ver
The Flashpocalypse comes!
Oh, cool, you peeps are building an ark.
Honestly, y’all take your time with it. It’s obvious that this won’t be easy, so make sure none of you are pushing yourselves too hard.
Try not to go crazy staring at code for too long take sufficient wank and food breaks and if it starts looking similar to what i imagine dyslexia looks like quit for the day (on a side note any way to add the ability to change tail types and count in shift goo menu)
So part of the delay is trying/looking at how to convert flash coding and variables to javascript coding and variables. This is my take Fenoxo and company.
This is not an multiplayer game, it is single player by design, so from that angle staying on flash makes sense from time coding as you already know the commands and shortcuts to put in and debug the files that Flash uses. So you, (coders), could continue to update the flash version while trying to learn how to translate flash variables/code to javascript code
It is also safe from a security standpoint since Flash games as far as I know can not be de-compiled into the files they consist of once the program is complied into the complete product i.e. TiTs.
I looked at differences between Flash and Javascript, and to be honest it looks like Fenoxo would have to hire one or more coders to convert the Flash coding in Javascript code. Javascript in the long run would be better but TiTs is quite large and complex for a flash game so that means a significant amount of time to convert it. If Fenoxo and company really want to switch to Javascript here I what I believe needs to be done.
1: Hire dedicated javascript programmers and recreate the different variables coding from flash to javascript. By setting up what variables to call upon (cock, tongue, chest, etc) before hand the conversion process should be made easier, but it would still be a pain. Just not as much of one as before.
2: Fenoxo and company spend time with the dedicated javascript programmers to learn from them how the commands JS uses differ from Flash commands when coding. Fen and company hopefully by now know some JS since it is what they are looking at but they would need to learn the complex functions/programming/variables to really make TiTs work in JS as intended.
3: Keep in communication with TiTs community/subscribers so they are not wondering why there is nothing.
4: Fenoxo and company should look at if it is really worth the effort to convert to JS. Sometimes the existing framework for something should continue to be used if the alternative is figuratively tearing down a building and reconstructing it with better materials if the reconstructing would cause financial harm. Personally with the building analogy I would have Fen and co continue Flash development (old building) past the end of the year while with dedicated JS programmers and spending time with the JS coders slowly build up a new building to move into. Yes it would take time, but TiTs still has more planets that need to be designed along with the content these planets would have, so continuing Flash TiTs development while slowly bringing TiTs up to current content as a JS game, would slow down development, but, this is not shouting just emphasizing, IT WOULD KEEP THE CURRENT PLAYER BASE AND SUBSCRIBERS! The Player base and subscribers are what makes TiTs possible financially.
Fenoxo and company, this maybe a long post and may seem presumptive a bit but it is because I love the game that has developed over the years and that love is why I subscribed to get backer versions. I care about the game and I do know you all have gone though a lot to get it this far and that you have not gave up when times got hard, lets me know that there are game developers out there that care about both the product and the ones who use it.
The changeover’s been happening in the background for quite a while now. We got this.
That is great news to know. Communicating and interacting with fans in a clear manner really does show that all of you care about the end result.
Also, they have to convert to something, flash is no longer viable.
“Insect Transformation”
Me, whispering with crossed finger: Please be Syndian, please be Syndian, please be Syndian
For real though, you guys keep up the good work, you’re doing great! Oh, and don’t stretch yourselves thin, leave that to the TiTS and CoC/CoC 2 characters.
I still wish someone will continue that “grooming” encounter expansion that has been sitting there like a damn tease for literally years now >_<
Hey, I don’t know if anyone says it enough, but thanks. (I know there are a lot that says it, but just in case! Want to have my bases covered.)
Both for the game and this transparency with what you are doing. I might just be 1 backer that says it, but it really is a load of fun (and the other kind) when a new patch drops 🙂
Hopefully you are all doing great, staying safe and all that jazz!
Ty! :3
Why even bother changing game engines when you can just include a link to standalone flash player so people can download it and play the game as is? Changing the game engine seems like a lot of effort to go through for no reason since tits can just become a PC based game instead of a browser based one with that.
Adobe will no longer be distributing the standalone flashplayer, making it all the more difficult for them to provide players with the ability to play the game. Plus, if there are any issues that happen with the Flash player, they won’t be able to go to Adobe for help since it’s being discontinued.
That insect tf wouldn’t happen to include multiple types, would it?
Canine Synthsheath has me excited and I hope it can be applied to NPCs in the future as an alternative to the existing one but I have realistic expectations since it’s a reflavor of an old thing rather than a brand new thing and thus has less priority to go back and mess with all the previous code.
Wait, Creatures? As in, the Creatures series with the norns, ettin and grendels?
Does anyone know what happened to the monthly free update of coc2 as its uusually on the 15th
It’s *around* the middle of the month. Not guaranteed to land on the 15th 😛
Alright thanks for the info!!
I just started TITS and already done Tarkus but I never gotten the email for Gastigoth
I actually think TiTS’s UI is just fine, easily readable, all that jazz
CoC2 on the other hand has one of the worst UIs i’ve seen in my entire life, h-game or not
But it’s like the same… What do you hate about it?
Well…. if that isn’t a hint that it’s time to go to take a nap, I don’t know what is…
Just read the post title as “Where’s Fen’s tits?”
I think you could keep updateing the flash verson while getting the js game up to date its safe to say most of your fan base has the standalone player already seeing how you guys have been telling us to use it for the past Two Years.
We *are* continuing dev on the Flash version. At least for now.
Im still here in the background wondering if there is gonna be an option for heterochromia
Im happy you guys are Moving TiTs away from Flash i have the standalone player and it’s al kinds of messed. sometimes it refuses to start sometimes it crashes when you load a flash game not mention things im not gonna say here just to save time. Also don’t work yourselves too hard switching away from flash is stressful so dont burn yourselves out on us. [Maybe in the future we can get a planet inhabited by “giants” and “dwarves” (you dont have to take me seriously on that)].
